Heard specializes in rock, indie, alternative, folk, and jazz.
Heard arrives at the studio well prepared and the expectation is that he gets tracks recorded in just a few takes. If remote recording from his home studio, he can typically have bass parts back to you the same day you send him files to record to.
Heard can record a bass part you have already written for a song or he can create one. If he is writing the part, you’ll discuss what type of style you are looking for and he can provide samples for you to choose from. If remote recording he will provide up to 3 complete drafts of a song.
The standard minimum is $100 per song. Heard can travel 2 hours to your studio at the normal rate and up to 4 hours for an additional fee, or parts can be remote recorded and sent to you via Google Drive. In this way Heard has worked with people across the US and Europe.

Recording Portfolio
These first two tracks are jazz pieces I’ve written or arranged. Ghost is a solo bass piece in which I utilize a loop pedal and other effects. Everything is done in one take with no overdubbing. Alazia is a modern jazz combo tune in the style of Kurt Rosenwinkle. Both are live recordings from a concert I put on that featured my original music or my own arrangements of songs. You can hear more works from this concert on my bandcamp.
My Vegan Uncle was a Rochester, NY based neo-jazz project that I performed with from 2017-2020. In addition to playing bass for the group I co-wrote The Rain with our vocalist and am one of the musical arrangers for the group.
Good Little Giants is a Christian folk/rock group with which I performed. I had the good fortune to win the audition as their bass player due in large part to playing both electric and double bass. I toured with them and recorded bass on their album “Arrows.” I play electric on Olly and upright on Our Eyes Have Adjusted. You can also check out a cool music video we did here. And yes, we actually camped out. I’m in the tiny orange Eureka tent and yes, I was still in there sleeping while they filmed the end campsite scene. I also almost drowned during filming but that’s a long story. Ask me sometime.
Erika Nalow is a great Nashville based singer songwriter and producer. I played on a few songs on her 2017 EP “Nalow and Marshall.”
Nate Kestor is an Ohio based tenor saxophonist. My solo kicks off at the 3 minute mark.
